The World Association for Dynamic Psychiatry (WADP) – India Chapter is a professional body committed to strengthening the understanding and practice of dynamic psychiatry across India. Our focus lies in exploring the emotional, psychological, and experiential dimensions of mental health to support deeper healing and long-term well-being.
We work towards building a mental health ecosystem where treatment is not limited to symptoms alone, but includes insight into personality, life experiences, and emotional development.

Message from the President
The World Association for Dynamic Psychiatry (WADP) was founded in 1981 to integrate and promote the practice of dynamic psychiatry and to foster integration of psychodynamic factors in the treatment and management of patients as well as in academics and research. The WADP is an affiliated association of the World Psychiatric Association (WPA) and is a member with seat and vote as a non-governmental organisation in the UNO for Population activities. The 20th World Congress held at Marrakech, Morocco on April 16-20, 2024 formally approved WADP India Chapter as a member society. This conference elected Prof Michel Botbol as President, Prof Maria Ammon as Secretary General and myself as one of the Vice Presidents.
WADP India has 136 founding members. Our 1st National Conference was organised by Dr Vivek Kirpekar and team on 12th and 13th April, 2025. It was a big success. Our 2nd conference will be held at Raipur, 24-26 April, 2026. Our next WADP World Congress will be held at Vienna, March 22-26, 2027. We will welcome all to join us for these events.

Message from Secretary General
World Association for Dynamic Psychiatry – India Chapter (WADP-India) is committed to integrating dynamic psychiatry principles and practices into medical education, clinical practice, and research in India, with the aim of improving mental health professionals’ interactions with patients and their ability to identify and effectively solve patients’ problems.
Dynamic Psychiatry fosters a basic psychological mindedness; a patient is seen not just as someone with a criteria-based diagnosis, but as a person whose difficulties need to be understood in relation to events, how the person interpreted those events and reacted to them.
The WADP-India will coordinate and collaborate with the Dynamic Psychiatry schools worldwide and within the country to provide and create educational opportunities for Dynamic Psychiatry in medical institutions and the scientific community. We aim to achieve this through continuous medical education and active engagement with medical educators, mental health trainees, and relevant stakeholders.
